Graham was a member of the Club for over 40 years until his sudden unexpected passing during Bath Dolphins Centenary Year in 1999. He had also recently retired from a long and distinguish career in the Avon and Somerset Constabulary and had been awarded the Queens Police Medal (QPM) in the New Years Honours List for his service.
He had a lifelong passion for all things swimming (including Life Saving), and achieved success as a swimmer at Regional and County championships. Alongside his police career, he was a keen masters competitor, officiated, and held numerous administrative positions including Regional Secretary, member of the Great Britain Swimming Board and representative at European and World Swimming Governing Bodies all in a voluntary capacity. He had been bestowed the honour of County and Regional President and was in charge of the swimming at the 1995 European Youth Summer Olympic event held in Bath.
The first memorial gala was held in July 1999 and has been every year since. Graham was held in great esteem by all those that knew him in and out of the swimming world and deeply missed.
